How much to tip delivery driver uk

System Requirements: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows 8.1

Does anyone know if the Prime Now drivers expect tips and get offended if you don't tip them? Seeing as the primary purpose of Prime is free shipping, it seems stupid to voluntarily pay for shipping in the form of tipping the delivery driver. So I was just wondering if their drivers expect to receive tips (like waiters) or if they don't expect them and then they are just a pleasant surprise when they do receive them (like other delivery drivers, mailmen, etc). If I am expected to tip I just won't use Prime Now because I don't want to risk them getting offended and messing with my orders so I'd rather just wait the usual 2 days and not have to pay for shipping/delivery.
Context  Tipping is not always expected in the UK in the way it is in other countries. All staff in the UK, must by law, be paid at least the National Minimum Wage £6.70 21 + years of age ( lower rate applies to those under 21 years of age).( National Living wage £7.20/hr 25+ years of age.  UK Living wage £8.25. London Living Wage £9.40. ( As April 2016). An employer is not allowed to use tips to top up wages to the legal minimum. Therefore, unlike in much of North America, the need and culture for tipping is much less. Making up servers wages to £9.40/hr in London  would be a reasonable tipping gesture by customers. Taxis It is not a requirement to tip in taxis, but it is customary to round up to the nearest pound on metered taxi journeys, more as a convenience to both passenger and driver than as a tip. On an airport journey in a booked minicab you might wish to tip two or three pounds if the driver helps with your luggage.  If taking a licenced London taxi cab to or from Heathrow or in London a 10% tip is the average amount, although as in the previous paragraph, it is not a requirement, nor should it be expected by the driver. There is a big difference between a taxi (usually a black cab) and a mini-cab. Anyone who can drive can become a mini-cab driver whereas taxi drivers have received a lengthy training, tend to know their way and serve better. However, the price of a black cab is usually markedly steeper than that of other services, and some will refuse to tip on these grounds. Takeaway food If your food is delivered to your hotel or apartment, tipping is not required, but the delivery driver would obviously appreciate a pound, or some/all of the change as appropriate, as a tip. Some customers tip, some do not. If you pick up the food from the takeaway restaurant, tipping would not be inappropriate. Don't do it. Fast food, cafes and coffee shops No tips are.

How often do you tip delivery drivers? Do you do tip at all? If not, why not? The British have strict codes of conduct concerning when we will and when we won’t tip for service. We rarely tip barmen or the lady at the launderettes, but we love tipping our cabbies, waiters and hairdressers. When it comes to our takeaway delivery drivers, it seems only a third of us would tip our driver every time. How do we know? We did a survey! At JUST EAT, a lot of us have worked in  jobs where tipping comes as standard, so we can appreciate both sides of the argument – the gratitude you feel when somebody rewards you for going that extra mile for them by giving you the extra big wedge of cake form the tray, but also the disappointment that comes with rudeness or mediocre service. Obviously you should make your own decision! But we’ve come up with a few reasons for and against Controversial. So why should you tip? 1. Generosity Tipping is a pretty standard practice in a lot of the food industry and someone bringing your food to your doorstep is definitely something of a luxury. Why not give a small gratuity to the person that helped make your lazy night in a reality? So long as they’ve served you with a smile and due courtesy, of course. 2. Build a Relationship By tipping someone at a restaurant, you’re developing a relationship with them. They’ll start to remember you as a regular, and a generous, customer. Think of it as showing your support for their restaurant and skills. 3. Improve Service The other part is that it can help bring up standards across the board – if getting regular tips as a delivery driver becomes a serious possibility, then delivery drivers will do their best to make sure they get those tips! That means you get your food faster, and they get paid for making a bit of extra effort. Everybody wins. 4. Bonus Section: Bartenders! If you want to be served quickly.
