Book Description HTML  |   Report this book The Interpretation of Dreams ( German: Die Traumdeutung) is a book by psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. The book introduces Freud's theory of the unconscious with respect to dream interpretation, and also first discusses what would later become the theory of the Oedipus complex. Freud revised the book at least eight times, and in the third edition added an extensive section which treated dream symbolism very literally, following the influence of Wilhelm Stekel. Freud said of this work, Insight such as this falls to one's lot but once in a lifetime. [1] The initial print run of the book was very low — it took many years to sell out the first 600 copies. It was translated from German into English by Dr. A. A. Brill, an American Freudian psychoanalyst, and later in an authorized translation by J. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sigmund Freud.

The Interpretation of Dreams by Sigmund Freud Publisher: Macmillan 1913 ISBN/ ASIN: B0019 T2 A68 Number of pages: 212 Description: Sigmund Freud revolutionized the way we think about ourselves. Much of this revolution can be traced to The Interpretation of Dreams, that outlined his theory of unconscious forces in the context of dream analysis. Introducing the id, the superego, and their problem child, the ego, Freud advanced scientific understanding of the mind by exposing motivations normally invisible to our consciousness. While there's no question that his own biases and neuroses influenced his observations, the details are less important than the paradigm shift as a whole. After Freud, our interior lives became richer and vastly more mysterious.
by Gustavus Hindman Miller Whether you've dreamt of fire, money, or your dead uncle, it's in here. 10,000 Dreams Interpreted is a classic of dream analysis that contains just about every conceivable symbol of the unconscious. It is so thorough that most modern dream interpretation books are based on Miller's century-old work. This guide is alphabetized for easy reference, but be warned: because it is so old, if you dream of an umbrella, you'll have to look it up under Parasol.
