Wd5000d032 000 driver toolkit

System Requirements: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows 8.1

Model: WD5000 D032-000 ( Dual-interface, FW & USB 2.0) Many thanks to Don Insalata and Rich Andrews for their wonderful tutorials. I thought I’d supplement with my own pictures from the process, and I think you’ll find most of them self-explanatory. As usual you should never play with electronics without the proper care. Remove the power adapter from the unit and hold the on-button in for 10 seconds to remove any remaining current. And since we’re going to be opening this chassis. First of all I should probably explain why I’m doing this. Well, let’s just say that this WD500 GB was a replacement for a previous 320 GB model that faulted the same way as this one. One day when I came into the office it just wouldn’t turn on. There had been no prior warnings, no clicks-of-death, so I suspected that the error was in the Western Digital chassis firmware/chip and not the hard disk itself. Looking around the net seemed to confirm my suspicion. In addition, there was an important temporary backup of my own stuff on it that I held very dearly. Thinking about it I don’t know why I still use this kind of chassis. A simple HDD USB or FW adapter seems to be the way to go, considering both the pricing and the data safety aspect of it. Being that this HDD contained sensitive information as well, I couldn’t risk handing it over to some doofus who’d just re-partition it and sell it as is. But that’s enough of the personal opinions. You can click the pics for a 1024×768 version, all thanks to my cousin Kekepower! Here we go.   With your flat-head screwdriver remove the rubber band that runs around the chassis edges   When done start prying the case open carefully. There are 13 or so plastic hinges: Placement of plastic hinges Despite what I had read in other tutorials, the round power button at the front was not attached (or at least not stuck) to the little green LED/power up.
These are some real problems experienced by WD5000 D032-000 and Western Digital hard drives in general that we see in our lab. We are not affiliated in any way with hard drive manufacturers. All the information below is based solely on our experience and we do not make any claims regarding reliability of the specific model. We see mostly failed drives in our lab and therefore we don't have complete statistics. Burnt circuit board from inserting power cable to external USB\ SATA adapter in incorrectly. Tried a donor PCB board and drive spins up but will click once every 10 or so seconds. BIOS will not recognize the drive. Peter Schindler Geneva, Switzerland When it comes to data recovery one of the most common problems Western Digital( WD) hard drives experience is burnt cuircuit board( PCB). WD drives are very vulnerable to overheating, power surges and streaks. Quite often bad power supply unit combined with power streak is usually enough to fry spindle driver chip on the electronics and make the data inaccessible. Should this occur the computer would reboot or shut down completely, you would normally notice acrid smell of smoke coming from your PC and when powered on the drive would not spin up at all and appear to be completely dead. If this is the case you can try to swap PCB from another WD drive of the same model but your chances of success are close to zero, especially on newer hard drives. The problem is that logic board on modern hard drive is adapted to the head disk assembly it was manufactured with. In our lab we use specialized software and hardware to rebuild these parameters or transfer them from fried board to make donor PCB fully compatible with damaged drive. I hear the drive is doing something, but it does not sound like the normal complete spin, it is more like clicking/humming.the blue light (which typically flickers with activity) is on solid.
I'm looking for a driver to install a WD5000 D032 ( Western Digital 500 GB My Book Premium) Not sure as to the cause, but my drive will no longer work. Windows does not recognize the device. True, it is not a hard disk controller, it is a hard disk. However, the drive will not function with my Windows XP Pro or my Windows Vista b/c the systems can not locate drivers. If anybody can help on this, it would be.
