Solution/workaround with open-source drivers: (kernels>=3.11) I had the same problem; my laptop will even shutdown itself for overheating few minutes after the boot (and sometime it didn't even manage to finish the boot). My machine Samsung Chronos 7 (see note (3) with hybrid graphics: VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [ AMD/ ATI] Seymour [ Radeon HD 6400 M/7400 M Series] switching to proprietary drivers helped, but sometime it was overheating too. With open-source drivers, often it didn't arrive to finish the boot. I managed to fix it and use the open-source drivers in Ubuntu 13.10, kernel 3.11.x. Disclaimer: I do not mind having reduced 3 D performance. If you mind it, try installing the latest proprietary drivers. a) go back to open-source drivers by removing all fglrx packages (link, link). Be sure to remove /etc/ X11/xorg.conf if you have one - it can block open-source drivers to find screens. b) fundamental add the kernel boot parameter radeon.dpm=1 (see note 1). This alone keeps the temperature down (although higher than I like). ( Edit: should be the default on 14.04 onward). c) Identify the card number (see note 2). In my case is card1, you can say it looking if a file named /sys/class/drm/card1/device/power_dpm_state exists. Go superuser in a terminal with sudo -i and do echo battery > /sys/class/drm/card1/device/power_dpm_state this make my GPU 20 degrees ( C) colder. I added this to my /etc/rc.local: avoid overheating of the AMD GPU if [ -f /sys/class/drm/card1/device/power_dpm_state ]; then echo battery > /sys/class/drm/card1/device/power_dpm_state fi d) After suspend/resume, strangely, the GPU is hotter. A solution is to issue (as above in a superuser terminal) echo low >.
In this guide I will disassemble a HP Pavilion g6 laptop. In this particular case I’m taking apart a HP Pavilion g6-1c55nr but the guide should fit all models in Pavilion g6 line. This guide explains hot to disassemble laptop base. In the next guide I’ll explain how to remove and replace the screen. STEP 1. As always start laptop disassembly with removing the battery. STEP 2. Remove two screws securing the bottom cover. Lift up and remove the cover. STEP 3. Under the bottom cover you’ll find the following components: - hard drive. - memory modules (in my case I have only one 4 GB module installed). - wireless card. - CMOS battery (standard 3 V battery). STEP 4. Slide the hard drive to the left and disconnect it from the motherboard. Lift up and remove the hard drive. HP Pavilion g6 laptop uses a regular 2.5″ SATA hard drive. STEP 5. Remove the memory module. HP Pavilion g6 laptop uses DDR3 memory STEP 6. Remove one screw securing the optical drive ( DVD drive). Pull DVD drive from the laptop and remove it. STEP 7. Remove one screw securing the keyboard on the bottom of the laptop. This screw located close to the wireless card. STEP 8. The keyboard secured by five spring loaded latches on the top. It could be tricky to release those latches. I’ll try my best to explain the process. Using a small flat head screwdriver push the latch inside the case. At the same time lift up the keyboard a little bit. When the keyboard lifted up it doesn’t allow the latch to lock again. Do the same with all remaining latches. STEP 9. After all five latches release, you should be able to lift up the top side of the keyboard. STEP 10. Turn the keyboard upside down and access the connector. You’ll have to unlock the connector in order to release the keyboard cable. STEP 11. On the following picture the keyboard connector shown in the locked position. Carefully lift up the left side of the.

Well i play games a lot and with 1.5 GB of graphics, all the games that i have played so far on this machine, got executed without any lag or jamming in the screen. Have tried, Assassin's Creed 2, Batman Arkhum, Hitman Absolution, NFS 2012 most wanted, Max Payne 3 and all worked fine. All in all, a wonderfull experience with the Dual graphic option so far. Yes of Course, Battery won't last longer if playing high graphic games and will have to plugin in the batteries for charge. Battery: Works fine, lasts approx 4 hours during normal usage. I configured almost all the softwares to use/unuse the graphic card. For those applications, where graphic card usage is not needed(opera.
